At a recent meeting of the DCA the issue of street cleaning was raised.  Councillor Peter Jenkins took this up and provided the following reposnse from Cardiff County Council "Thank you for raising the query regarding street sweeping in Danescourt. We understand concerns have been raised about litter left behind following recycling and waste collections.

Currently, cleansing crews are scheduled to attend Danescourt every three weeks with the following operations:

A litter-picking team is deployed on Fridays every three weeks.

A small mechanical sweeper attends on Mondays, also on a three-weekly cycle.

In comparison, Grangetown operates under a different cleansing schedule due to the majority of households being on a bagged waste collection system, which tends to result in more street-level litter. Additionally, Grangetown experiences significant issues with seagulls ripping open waste bags, which contributes to the need for more frequent and closely coordinated cleansing efforts.

Cleansing services across Cardiff are undergoing a resource review, and we are actively exploring ways to improve coordination between waste and cleansing teams. Waste crews currently operate on a four-day working week, while cleansing teams work on a five-day tidy-up schedule, which presents some logistical challenges. However, we are looking at opportunities for crews to work more closely together to improve outcomes in areas like Danescourt.

We appreciate residents' feedback and will continue to assess how best to implement coordinated cleansing in line with local needs."
