The area we now know as Danescourt, Cardiff was the original parish of Radyr.
St John's church and the orginal hamlet date back to the 13th Century. A manor house stood where the gardens of 5 to 19 Heol Aradur are now.
A new manor house, Radyr Court, was built in the 15th Century. It was two storeys around a central court yard. This was partly demolished in 1830 however the surviving wings were turned in to a farm house and are now the Radyr Court Inn.
